Maybe my outlook on life has changed but I feel so optimistic these past few days. The world has changed in my eyes, a definite change for the better though. I used to be pessimistic and I always had a negative outlook on situations. Always expecting the worst out of people. But it's so unhealthy to live like that. Negative energy not only breed more negative energy but it also attracts it.You've heard the saying -those of like personalities subconciously find one another- like any other group of people. Pessimists breed pessimism and attract the hell out of it from outside sources. I can't live like that anymore. Aside from being enamored with my newfound optimism, I feel so much more spontaneous. Life's journeys cannot be planned. In fact, what you plan for never occurs how it should. The plan has kinks in it that people act unaware of but they know damn well the kinks are lurking around the next bend waiting to give you a metaphorical flat. People become so focused on planning their life that they miss half of it. One day they'll wake up seventy and in a nursing home, confused, wondering where their life went. To be spontaneous is to be free and open to every rising opportunity. It doesn't mean that one has to partake in every opportunity but each one is there as an option. Just tonight, since it's my birthday week, I chose to hangout with the italian twins and play video games. Staying up all hours of the night learning to kill nazi zombies on COD and spending my evening with two very good friends. Even though I didn't make it back to the room until early morning, I had a great evening just being spontaneous and optimistic. Enjoying life.
To actually live is to live like your going to die every single day. We have to make the most of what we have left. Life is so short in the span of all time.
Enjoy the scenery, it'll be gone one day.
Yes, we must enjoy life. Each day, I find at least one reason to celebrate. Thank you for the reminder.

I love what you said at the end.. 'Enjoy the scenery, it'll be gone one day.' It's so true! In the last couple years, I guess you could say living life to the fullest has become a motto for me. After seeing 'The Bucket List' (yes i know a little cliche) it got me thinking..I believe we only get one opportunity on this earth & I want to go out and experience EVERYTHING.
ReplyDeleteAfter seeing the movie, I made a bucket list of my own with over 150 things I want to do..some include doing mission work in Africa, climbing mountains, traveling, etc. & I have to say..crossing off some of the stuff on there is so rewarding. You just feel this sense of accomplishment..no matter what it is you've accomplished. I sang for a crowd and crossing #101 off the list made for a great wednesday! You were given this chance to live, so why wouldn't you go out and experience life?! Who wants to sit in a cublicle all day and do the same routine over and over? It's not living, it's boring and tedious! CARPE DIEM!
I've thought about making a bucket list of my own actually but when I think about everything I want to accomplish, it seems daunting. @aubrey, you've inspired me to start making a legitimate list. I'm going to start the list here and continue working on it as I experience the world but for the beginning:
ReplyDelete1. I want to volunteer at the cairo museum in the basement documenting the massive amount of artifacts that cover the football-sized lower level from wall to wall, floor to ceiling.
2.I want to hike the peruvian mountains and visit the incan ruins. It was the trip that I was going to take with my grandma this past summer.
3.I want to spread the beauty of this world as I see it to those that have been long lost in their daily routine of mad-rushing through life.
4.I want to become a professor.
5. I want hike the carpathian mountains that run through romania.
6. I want to adopt (and save) an orphaned child in romania. Most girl children are kicked out from the orphanage around five or six and left to fend for themselves due to overcrowding or are sold into the child sex-slave ring.
And as the days goes on, the list will get longer.
Vanna,
ReplyDeleteI can completely feel your happiness just bursting out of your writing. It sounds like your new outlook on life will bring you great adventure and contentment. What you said about people attracting similar personalities is very observant; sometimes I think also that friend’s attitudes on life rub off on their friends. Like if someone is not an optimist or a pessimist but they hang out with pessimistic people, it is more likely that they’ll become a pessimist too. I totally agree with what you said spontaneity being free and open but choosing opportunities.
